Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 Brings Major Changes to Ontario's Labour and Employment Laws
The Ontario legislature recently made wide-ranging changes to labour and employment laws by enacting the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017, also known as "Bill 148". The FWBJA introduces numerous amendments to the Labour Relations Act, 1995, the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Cavalluzzo LLP has prepared a paper summarizing these changes and discussing the key elements of the FWBJA as it affects trade unions and employees in Ontario.
Please note that new legislation has been introduced which will repeal many of these reforms. Please see the summary at this link.
