Bio

Amanda’s practice covers all aspects of administrative and labour law, the law relevant to the internal administration of unions and other progressive organizations, and the law of bankruptcy and insolvency as it relates to employees and unions.

Amanda focuses on providing clients with strategic advice and consultations, preparing major written submissions to administrative tribunals, to the courts and to policy makers, and on providing innovative research and legal analysis.

Amanda has particular expertise in the area of federal labour law, including detailed knowledge of the aviation industry and the labour relations issues affecting it, gained over many years of close involvement with this sector, including acting for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in the Air Canada and Aveos insolvency proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.

As the firm's Director of Research, Amanda provides legal and policy analysis and written advocacy to clients, to the firm’s lawyers and to union in house counsel, and has extensive experience in appellate law, particularly in the preparation of court materials for judicial review.

Amanda is responsible for the firm’s knowledge management systems, library and research resources, bringing to this role her longstanding interest in the application of technology to improve legal services.
