Federal Court Approves Settlement in EI Sickness Class Action

On January 29, 2019, the Federal Court approved the settlement the Firm reached with the Government of Canada resolving the EI sickness class action on behalf of women who were denied EI benefits while they were on parental leave for illness or injury that occurred during their leave. The Firm is proud of this settlement. In her decision approving it, Justice Kane affirms that the settlement is in the best interests of the Class and that the Firm did an excellent job achieving the results it achieved.

The lawyers responsible for this class action are Stephen Moreau, Amanda Darrach, and Tassia Poynter.
