On June 17, 2019, Lara Koerner-Yeo will act as Co-Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Aboriginal Law Program: “After the TRC and the National Inquiry:  The Gladue Principles and the Ongoing Call for Justice”. Twenty years after the landmark Supreme Court of Canada decision in R. v. Gladue, this program discusses the Gladue Principles and the impact of recent case law, legal implications arising from the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit Persons, and the legal profession’s role in the ongoing call for reconciliation as set out in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Report.
