The Chief and Council of Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Anishinabek (ANA or Grassy Narrows First Nation) issued the ANA Land Declaration today.

The ANA Land Declaration declares Grassy Narrows' traditional territory to be an Indigenous Sovereignty Protected Area and asserts the First Nation's self-determination over land use in its territory, including a ban on industrial logging, hydro damming, and mineral staking and mining. For related press coverage, read the articles published by the CBC and the Toronto Star and statements of support from Amnesty International and the David Suzuki Foundation.
